This is a house in West hill constructed from cob

The area of the house being renovated required a full re-render in lime. Once we uncovered the cob, we came across multiple issues that needed addressing before we could start to reinstate the plaster work. We had to replace a wooden lintel that was barely supported and re-build that section of the wall. We also found areas of cob that previously had patches of sand, cement and various other render repairs applied to them and therefore when those areas of render were removed, we needed to rebuild those sections.

We carried out our demolition and rebuilding works and then returned several weeks later to continue with the plastering works once other trades had carried out their duties.

Each wall was scat and dubbed out to create some workable shapes and fill in any hollow areas. We then followed with a scratch coat and finished with a float coat, creating a soft curvy finish ready to lime wash.
